About filebox

Filebox.ro was launched at the end of October 2007.

At first, filebox.ro was created as an online storage platforma with multimedia functions.

The purpose of the project is to offer a FREE inovative solution to match the needs of the Internet users in Romania. We offer full access to a permanent technical support and a friendly user interface to help the users to send big files to their friends and collaborators, without the limitations of the e-mail.

The service has exponentially grown in popularity from one month to another, with a record rate for the online market in Romania. According to an analysis made by trafic.ro about the top sites, this is the first as rate of growth, from zero to about 1 million visitors in 4 months.

But, besides statystics and concept, the sudden growth of filebox.ro was like a huge rock in our pockets while we were swimming. We are open minded and we do not deny that we were surpassed by the situation, at 1 o'clock in the morning, without any new idea at the moment. But still, there was no downtime longer than 6 hours, no matter the severity of the problems, and when you have 30-40.000 visitors per day, these situations can be only severe. We say that we are an extraordinary team and the proof is this fantastic result: Top 10 trafic.ro in 9 months. How many others reached this performance?

Filebox.ro is a new concept for Romania and there is no experienced people in file storage area that we could lure from other places. In the first months, every 2-3 days we ran into something new that transformed, from time to time, the experience of using filebox into an adventure. We also received "support" form a series of "benevolents" who constantly attacked us more than 2 weeks in 3-4 months time.

Still, because this project is the most serious in this segment, the users did encourage us and left behind those problems, coming back on the website and continuing to use the service faithfully. This trust was justified, we state that, despite of all the "glitches" we had in the first months after launch, no file was lost once it reached filebox.ro.

In July 2008, filebox.ro got a new "suit". A suit of the future that incorporates more services than ever. The filebox user benefits of an extended range of functions therefore, after joining for free filebox.ro, the user can:

• store the files from PC. The files may be of any kind and, depending of the period the users wants to store the files, the storage space may be practically unlimited.
• send to anyone one or more files up to 1GB without being held back by the e-mail limitations or other software used to send files
• with this files (image type) the user can create a photo album. In the digital photography era you can have hundreds or even thousands of photos during an important event (wedding, graduation, etc) and these photos needs to be distributed to the participants. On filebox.ro there are photo albums with over 1000 photos, albums created by users. It is possible to share these albums just with friends or, in case someone wants the user's photos to become public, the albums may be available to all filebox.ro visitors. This last feature is very useful to artists, stores which sell different products, or to regular users who are proud of something and wants to share this in public.
• listen to audio files through internet, directly from the site, from the user's account, wherever there is an internet connection and on any device (desktop, laptop, mobile phone). The files are accessible only to the account owner. The user can also publish on filebox.ro a mix made of 15 favorite songs, through the account.
• publish video clips in the Fun section.

Right now filebox.ro is on the 10th place in the general classification from trafic.ro, with over 1.6 million visitors per month which accesses over 10 million pages.

We hope that the end of the year will bring us a solid position in Top 10 of the websites in Romania. This is equivalent to having 2 million visitors per month. This shouldn't be a problem, isn't it?
